Founded in 1981, the Network for Professional and Executive Women is a nonprofit organization whose members live or work in the greater Columbus, Georgia area. In addition to providing networking opportunities for our members, we provide both financial and volunteer support to selected charities and nonprofit organizations, making a significant difference to the recipient organizations. The mission of our organization is to: - Promote a spirit of cooperation and understanding among members.
- Enhance one another's career goals by providing a strong network of professional contacts.
- Share ideas and provide mutual encouragement.
- Recognize the contributions of women in our community.
- Serve members by acting as an information clearinghouse on career issues, such as executive relocation, and nomination and appointment to both public and private boards of directors.
- Foster the development of executive women.
- Encourage others to join us in our pursuits.
- Exercise responsibility through active participation in programs of a civic nature.
Since 1981, we have made great strides toward fulfilling our purpose. Some highlights of our efforts include: - Earning an award from the Columbus Soroptimist Club (a local civic organization) for advancing the status of women.
- Creating a scholarship fund for Columbus area female residents pursuing a baccalaureate or advanced degree, and who are upper division students. This scholarship fund is also available to members for further education and/or professional development.
- Organizing a School Age Child Care (SACC) Task Force, in partnership with United Way, to assess and expand both after-school and summer childcare programs available within the community. As a direct result of these efforts, every public elementary and middle school in Muscogee County now has after-school programs.
- Becoming a Partner in Education with the Muscogee County School District's Teenage Parenting Center. Each year, Network members sponsor an annual Professional Day featuring career development and image workshops. Network members also mentor students, and participate in seasonal events and academic recognition ceremonies.
If you are a professional or executive woman who is interested in supporting our efforts through membership, please review our application process and download a membership application.
